Go eat something!!!

This week is the kick off to some very busy moments at my grown up girl job.
The campus hosts a few hundred employers from all over the country to recruit our students during a three day period.
It's a very concentrated time frame of what I do all year long and kicks off an entire season that includes hundreds of smaller group visits (the best I can explain it).
Over the years, this particular week has been a source of both stress and hilarity for me.
One academic colleague in particular always manages to give me something to talk about when the week is all said and done.
She's yelled at me, she's banished me from events, she's called my bosses on me, she's hugged me, she's called me her best friend, she's thanked me, she's forced me to do manual labor (as in moving big pieces of equipment) and she's either blamed me or credited me for things that have went right or wrong.....all in the space of 30 years.
And, I'm okay with all of it......especially as the years go by.....I've mellowed.
She's many years older than me, quite feisty and very opinionated.....and she has a PhD....
On a university campus...the latter credential means something....it sort of negates all the other issues....

Soooo.....
There I was strolling through the event yesterday with one of my lovely colleagues (who is also a blog reader and can vouch for me on this!)...and here comes Dr. PhD....
Naturally, I was thinking.....what will she have to say now?
Bracing myself against my colleague, I put on my biggest smile....
And, what does she say?
"Judi! I am so used to seeing you heavy! You look so drawn! Go eat something!"

I was thankful she didn't force feed me on the spot......

Just another day at the office!!!

Hilarious...in a backhanded compliment sort of way. "Drawn"...it just means you're now a skinny b*tch and she's afraid of you now LOL...that or you look like a beautiful cartoon character superwoman...drawn.

I work with a building full of Ph.D. researchers. I wish I had your ability to just shrug it all off. Their obsessive need to be right all the time makes me feel miniscule and stupid. GAH.

Do you know Dr. PhD said today that she started the TOC in 1980? I said that's when you started.

You should have said my body always reacts that was when I see you walking my way!

On the subject of Ph.D's, CMU and such.
Since we are located close to CMU, we have lots of patients that are students there. When someone comes to our office for an appt. I can tell in one min if they are from CMU. They ask suprised how I know. I never tell them my full proof system. THey are ALWAYS the ones who have to be told to sign their name next the the space where it says name on the patient form!
Or (this is the truth) more often than not they don't know where to put their name and address on the reminder postcard for their next appt.
Now I am not lumping all Ph.D's in this catagory, and certainly not my next husband, your son. But, my Brother in law included, ask them why the sky is blue and they will tell you in mathmatical equations. But my sister needs to put post-it notes all over the dash board of their car to remind him to turn off the headlights when he parks!
